At over eight inches high (22.5 centimeters), 18 inches long (47 centimeters), and six inches wide (16.5 centimeters), the Lego Ghostbusters Ecto-1 will occupy quite some space on your desk.

After all, the real Ectomobile stretched to 21 feet in length and tipped the scales at 7,300 pounds.

That’s good news, though, because the generous size allowed Lego designers to bake a lot of details into the Ecto-1. Sure, you can tag this move from Lego and Sony Pictures like a way of building some hype for the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie, but this doesn’t chip away at the Ecto-1’s awesomeness.

For example, Lego’s take on the Cadillac-based Ecto-1 includes a plethora of ghost-busting gear mounted on the roof rack, as well as a moving ghost sniffer that’s activated by the wheels, an extendable rear gunner seat and a working steering wheel.

Speaking of Lego designers, the plastic-brick Ectomobile is the work of designer Michael Psiaki, who also played a role in developing the Lego James Bond Aston Martin DB5. He says that besides the authentic features, the Ecto-1 is “crammed full of […] easter eggs […] for builders to discover as they put this model together.”

When can I get one?

The Lego Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set goes on sale from November 15. According to Lego’s website, the set is priced at $199.99. This new Lego set, however, is not the company’s first attempt at recreating the Ecto-1.

A now-retired set that came off Lego Ideas was offered a couple of years ago, but it was smaller (508 pieces) and not as detailed as the new one.
